Aim

The JABACO is aimed at developing a Modular Jacket concept composed by components of pre-qualified quality, for cost reduction of offshore wind farms.

Concept

The concept under consideration is based on an integrated design considering water depths 30-80m, turbine sizes 5-10 MW, in the North Sea and the Mediterranean. Design of basic six cases, tests and numerical simulations of structural components has been conducted, together with a sensitivity analysis.

Deliverables

The deliverables of the JABACO project contain procedures/recommendations for modular jacket design, including the six case studies optimized, which define a pathway for lowering the cost of energy in offshore wind farms in European waters, towards increasing the competitiveness of offshore wind energy
